Kancil Engine Maintenance

Air Cleaner Assembly

Removal

  1. Disconnect the cool air intake hose from air cleaner cap
  2. Remove the wing nut1) and detach the clamps
  3. Remove the air cleaner cap
  4. Remove the air filter element2)
  5. Remove the air cleaner case attaching bolts
  6. Raise the air cleaner case slowly
  7. Disconnect the PCV hose from the air cleaner case

Installation

  1. Connect the air cleaner case onto the carburetor, install the four attaching bolts
    Tightening Torque: 7.8 ± 1.6 N⋅m (0.80 ± 0.16 kgf-m)
  2. Install the air cleaner element
  3. Install the air cleaner cap
  4. Install the wing nut and secure the clamps
  5. Connect the cool air intake hose to the air cleaner cap

Carburetor

Removal

  1. Remove the following parts from the carburetor
    1. Vacuum hoses
    2. Outer vent hoses
    3. Fuel inlet hose
    4. Fuel outlet hose
    5. Water hoses
    6. Accelerator cable
    7. Disconnect the connector
  2. Remove the carburetor by removing the two attaching nuts
  3. Remove the carburetor
  4. Remove the gasket3)

Installation

  1. Install the carburetor with a new gasket interposed
    Tightening Torque: 12.7 ± 2.5 N⋅m (1.30 ± 0.26 kgf-m)
  2. Install or connect the following parts to the carburetor
    1. Vacuum hose
    2. Outer vent hoses
    3. Fuel inlet hose
    4. Fuel outlet hose
    5. Water hoses
    6. Accelerator cable
      NOTE:
      • Recheck the accelerator cable play after the engine has warmed up thoroughly
    7. Connect the connector

Intake Manifold

Removal

  1. Disconnect the following parts from intake manifold
    1. Booster hose
    2. Water hose
    3. Intake manifold stay
    4. Engine wire clamp
  2. Loosen the intake manifold attaching bolts and nuts evenly over two or three stages in the sequence indicated in the figure
  3. Remove the intake manifold by removing the attaching bolts
  4. Remove the intake manifold gasket4) and remaining material from the cylinder head and manifold

Installation

  1. Install the intake manifold with a new gasket interposed
  2. Tighten the intake manifold attaching bolts and nuts evenly over two or three stages in the sequence indicated in the right figure
    Tightening Torque: 19.1 ± 3.8 N⋅m (1.95 ± 0.39 kgf-m)
