Class 4A Driving License
Class 4 drivers are required to go through the same coursework as below, but do not need to take a Traffic Police test, only an internal test by the public transport operator.
Omnibus Driver's Vocational License (ODVL) - 1 week
Prospective bus captains begin their training with a 5-day course at the Singapore Bus Academy (SGBA), where they will learn about:
- Overview of the Public Transport Industry (bus contracting model, quality of service framework, EWT/OTA)
- ODVL rules, regulations and Protection from Harassment (Public Service Worker) act
- Sectoral tripartism and NTWU talk
- NOBE & CFMS
- Service literacy
- Safe driving techniques
- Hazard awareness
- Scenario-based simulator training at SMRT Bus Training and Evaluation Centre (BTEC)
SBS Transit Bus Captain Development Centre - Bus Operations and Service Proficiency (BOSP) - 7 weeks
Basic BOSP (4 weeks)

- CFMS
- EDS
- SBS CARES (Service Literacy and Special Needs)
- Practical training - Scania K230UB
- Driving
- Parking/Garaging: Parallel parking, vertical parking, diagonal parking
- Bus stops
- Mock driving test
- Basic driving test
Advanced BOSP (3 weeks)
- Practical training - Volvo (DD), Mercedes Citaro (SD)
- Driving
- Parking/Garaging: Parallel parking, vertical parking, diagonal parking
- Bus stops
- Depot visit and learner service route familiarization
- Class 4A Traffic Police driving test (for class 3/3A holders)/SBS Driving Instructor driving test (for class 4 holders)
