Device Enclosures

These are enclosures I have built, bought or printed that I particulary enjoyed and recommend; or notes about interesting enclosure options I am exploring.

DIY Enclosure Builds

I haven't built any enclosures yet, but here are some useful enclosures to consider for DIY:

Pelican Micro Cases

Waterproof Junction Boxes

PET Bottle Preforms

Vendor Enclosures

Heltec WiFi LoRa 32(V3) with Plastic Shell

  • No battery compartment, no support for SMA connector; 3D printed replacement backs available to add battery and other compartments
  • IMHO, better to just order the board without the case, you get a u.FL to SMA pigtail and SMA antenna, which gives you an upgrade path

Unify Enclosure Solar IP65 100x75x38

  • The solar panel is not sufficient to keep a RAK4361 Meshtastic ROUTER_CLIENT charged, even with half a day of direct sunlight

3D Printed Enclosures

:!: I recommend printing in PETG or similar heat-resistant materials, as the combined heat of the microcontroller, LoRa module and environment may be enough to soften PLA :!:

  • :?: Accessory compartment → Space inside case for additional accessories e.g. GPS module or sensors
  • :?: Easy print → Prints without supports

If your device is not on the list of enclosures I have built and tested, or you just want to look at the variety of designs available, these links can help you find more enclosures:

1)
each cable gland occupies 6 mm of internal length, this internal dimension has already accounted for both cable glands
