I have led the build and launch of several new Amazon Web Services (AWS) new regions, Availability Zones and transit centers in the Asia-Pacific. I love working in the Network Infrastructure and server space, as well as more generally electronics.

In my spare time, I run several services on my homelab, including a Linux mirror and my website, design circuits and make things, and I am a licensed radio ham!

Aug 2014 - Apr 2015 · 9 months

I drove the scaling-up of network infrastructure, IP address planning and migrations, and ancillary services such as DHCP, to accommodate the company’s aggressive expansion strategy. I also did extensive cleanup of existing datacenter and broadband networks and systems, spearheading many initiatives to simplify network services and remove daily inefficiencies and operational pains.

My non-operational work includes pre-sales product conceptualization for customers with unique design or technical requirements, and after-sales GPON circuit management and B2B communications with the national dark fiber wholesaler NetLink Trust.

I also organized labs with manufacturers and ODM/OEMs to preview new technologies or diversify existing hardware; for instance, new router-gateway products, home automation solution, and next-generation GPON technology. I also personally created the fastest residential broadband service in the world - a 2Gbps service I designed using a combination of existing GPON technology and MikroTik Cloud Core Routers.

Aug 2013 - Jul 2014 · 1 year

Network Operations Centre engineer for ViewQwest Pte Ltd’s datacenter, as well as technical support for non-residential GPON and OE services, residential GPON services.

I also provided telephone and on-site support for end-to-end GPON fault tracing and CPE issues with a strong focus on customer satisfaction, and worked with ViewQwest’s Marketing team to pioneer the ViewQwest Home Consultation Service, a unique offering in Singapore which provided personal consultation to customers and promised concrete solutions for any issues that customers may face with their home network.

An area I devoted a lot of attention to was documentation of new/known issues to improve customer satisfaction and improving trouble ticket turnaround time.
