Class 4 drivers are required to go through the same coursework as below, but do not need to take a Traffic Police test, only an internal test by the public transport operator.

Prospective bus captains begin their training with a 5-day course at the Singapore Bus Academy (SGBA), where they will learn about:

• Overview of the Public Transport Industry (bus contracting model, quality of service framework, EWT/OTA)
• ODVL rules, regulations and Protection from Harassment (Public Service Worker) act
• Sectoral tripartism and NTWU talk

  • Scenario-based simulator training at SMRT Bus Training and Evaluation Centre (BTEC)
